摘要
Brain metastases (BM) portend a poor prognosis among breast cancer patients. The management of breast cancer with brain metastases (BCBM) is multi-modal with local therapy consisting of radiation and/or surgery, albeit without durable responses, and systemic therapy playing an increasingly important role. Further clinical research is warranted to improve prognosis for BCBM. However, there are several challenges in studying this population. This review provides a general overview of BCBM and discusses unique aspects of conducting clinical trials and ongoing/future research in BCBM. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media New York.
