The recently discovered luminescent properties of nonaromatic amino acids with excitation-dependent photoluminescence in the absence of conjugation within individual molecules have aroused great interest. Although the existence of the phenomenon of internal luminescence no longer is doubted, the nature of this process remains unclear. The authors tried to advance the understanding of these processes in the study of the spectral-luminescent properties of L-lysine and L-arginine using adsorption spectroscopy in the ultraviolet and visible ranges, as well as stationary and synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy. © 2021, Pleiades Publishing, Inc.
