摘要
Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) belongs to the most common cancer in the periorbiatl region. Because of locally advanced and metastatic BCC the therapy came in the focus of clinical research studies. The discovery of the signal transduction pathway lead to the development of a new therapeutic intervention. Vismodegib, a hedgehog pathway inhibitor, orally administered, has been introduced as therapy for locally advanced and metastastic basal cell carcinoma producing objective responses. © 2015, Springer-Verlag Wien.
