We propose including in the calculation of the cross section of the process p + N → N + N + π the process of pion production and absorption that proceeds through creation of a Δ-resonance. By taking into account the energy dependence of Δ-resonance width, the contribution of deuteron channel is included in the cross section of π0-, π+-meson production. © Allerton Press, Inc., 2010.
