Optically transparent metal-containing polymer materials

The review is focused on some aspects of the synthesis, functionalization, and properties of optically transparent metal-containing polymer materials. A distinctive feature of these materials is a combination of a high transparency in the visible spectral range and a high content of metals that are distributed in a polymer matrix as complex compounds or colloidal particles formed by metal compounds or metals in their element states. Depending on their composition, the materials selectively transform electromagnetic radiation and particles flows hazardous to health, luminesce, are moderately conducting, etc. The properties of the material can be predicted and formed purposively in the stage of the preparation of initial compositions, which introduces various modifiers.
