Invariance properties of equations of lasing of a single-mode gas laser with linear phase anisotropy of the resonator operating on the ja, = 1 → ja=2 transition are analyzed. The phenomena of polarization symmetry breaking and restoration caused by symmetric bifurcations of the stationary and periodic solutions are described. In passing from an isotropic resonator to an anisotropic resonator, a spontaneous breaking of the polarization symmetry is revealed, which is caused by the lifting of degeneracy of laser modes. © 2000 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica".
