The article considers the role and significance of tourism as a factor of rural economy diversification. It reveals the conditions and preconditions for promoting its development and proves the need for implementation and completion of regional and municipal programs, supporting rural tourism as part of the comprehensive development of rural territories, based on the example of the Republic of Bashkortostan. © 2009 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
