Interaction of a tunable laser beam with high-resolution lines of methane in 9190-9199 cm-1

The quasi-random model of molecular band absorption is used to study the interaction of a tunable narrow linewidth-laser beam with the absorption lines of methane in the region of 9190-9199 cm-1. Using a numerical integration method, values of transmittance are computed over intervals of 1.0 cm-1 for four absorber thicknesses. The absorption values thus obtained, which simulate the intensities of the absorption lines, are compared with those obtained by the line-by-line (LBL) method. © 2012 Optical Society of India.
