We construct and justify a numerical algorithm for finding the generalized eigenvalues and eigenfunctions for self-adjoint positive semidefinite linear operators with nonlinear spectral parameter. We give an example of its application to finding the branch points of solutions of a class of nonlinear integral equations of Hammerstein type. ©1998 Plenum Publishing Corporation.
