Pd catalysts supported on the solvothermal-derived nanocrystalline α-Al2O3 (45 nm) exhibited superior performances in the selective acetylene hydrogenation than those supported on micron-sized ones (44–149 μm). Reduction at 500°C led to an improvement of the ethylene yield for the Pd/nanocrystalline α-Al2O3, but not for the Pd/micron-sized α-Al2O3.
