Reaction of aniline with a mixture of tautomes of 3-benzylidene-4-oxothiazolidine-2-thione, followed by treatment with hydrogen chloride, allowed isolation of the pure desmotropic form of this compound, 5-benzylidene-2-mercapto-Δ2-thiazolin-4-one.
