The Bauschinger effect is common phenomenon during cold forming of metal materials including titanium alloy. It is essential to calibrate and describe the Bauschinger effect correctly for titanium sheet forming process simulation. In this paper, the Bauschinger effect has been investigated at room temperature on TC4 ELI alloy. Cyclic tension–compression tests under different strain ranges are performed to obtain the cyclic stress–strain curves of TC4 ELI. Several characteristics based on the curves are calculated to compare the magnitude of the Bauschinger effect of TC4 ELI. Isotropic hardening model, Chaboche hardening model and Yoshida-Uemori (Y-U) hardening model are employed to simulate the cyclic tension–compression response. Based on the comparison of effective stress vs. strain curves under reverse deformations, Y-U hardening model suits the hardening behavior the best.
