Dynamic performance study of railway vehicle on half-vehicle roller rig

Bench test conducted on the roller rig is one of the important measures to simulate the dynamic performance of railway vehicles. The test results on Full-vehicle roller rig (FVRR) are closer to the reality, but the construction cost is huge. Therefore, to reduce the cost of the roller rig, a Half-vehicle roller rig (HVRR) is proposed and the test method is compared with FVRR. Firstly, a dynamic coupling model of the roller rig and the vehicle was established based on a 250 km/h intercity EMU. Then, the vehicle dynamic performance on HVRR, including the hunting stability and the ride comfort, is analyzed and compared with that on FVRR. At last, a bench test is conducted and some results are discussed. The result shows that for the critical speed of the vehicle, since the result on FVRR and HVRR is quite small, HVRR can be applied for the vehicle hunting stability test. Due to the difference of vehicle carbody vibration modes, there are some differences in vehicle Sperling index between FVRR and HVRR under different track irregularity, indicating that the test result on HVRR should be rectified considering a certain safety margin.
