摘要
Amethod of fabricating a high-density, single-phase, high-purity ceramic from high-sintering complex oxides is described. Two powders — a high-temperature component (HTC) close to the composition of a complex oxide, and a low-temperature component (LTC) next to a eutectic oxide closest to a complex oxide — are mixed in order to obtain a complex oxide with stoichiometric composition. The liquid phase formed from the LTC by firing promotes liquid-phase sintering and then vanishes, forming a complex oxide. The method makes it possible to fabricate dense ceramic without introducing sintering additives, which result in the appearance of an ‘auxiliary’ phase. It is shown that this method can be implemented for β-spodumene and mullite.
