The operative neurosurgical training programme in our clinic was restructured from 1991–93 with the concept of having a frame for the categories and the volume of operations for training year 1 to 6 and to continuously escalate the complexity of the interventions. In the present report the experiences gained so far as well as the deficiencies are described.
