摘要
Small mammals were used as an example for estimating the applicability of multifractal analysis to the description of the species structure of terrestrial communities. Analysis of the species structure of the small-mammal community in the Nizhni Novgorod Region of the Volga Basin performed by traditional methods and by means of multifractal formalism did not show any logical contradictions between the two approaches. It has been found that the plot of the multifractal spectrum is a locus of points corresponding to an infinite set of fractal dimensions that include integrated parameters of the species structure of the community in the normalized form.
