Can Naked Singularities Yield Gamma-ray Bursts?

Gamma-ray bursts are believed to be the mostluminous objects in the Universe. Recently Singh hasclaimed that quantum particle creation around a nakedsingularity can provide the required energy in astraight-forward way. It is argued that all known examples ofnaked singularity in fluid collapse are based onphysically inconsistent assumptions and have noastrophysical significance. Further, naked singularitiescannot provide the required amount ofenergy.
