摘要
Each of the medical and surgical therapies for Crohn's disease has inherent advantages and disadvantages that must be balanced for patients with moderate to severe disease. Most patients with Crohn's disease require surgery at some point during the lifelong illness, but surgical therapy is not curative for most patients, as postoperative recurrence of Crohn's disease is common and can pose diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. Disease monitoring and appropriate prophylaxis are necessary in patients at high risk. © Springer Science+Business Media, LLC 2008.
