Dynamic performance analysis and parameter collaborative optimization of floating seal dam compliant foil face gas seal

Under the consideration of axial displacement excitation, the floating seal dam compliant foil face gas seal (FSD-CFFGS) is taken as the research object based on the theory of gas lubrication and elastic mechanics; the seal dynamics equation, transient Reynolds equation and foil deformation equation are solved by coupling method. The dynamic performance difference between FSD-CFFGS and rigid surface face gas seal (RSFGS) is compared and analyzed. Besides, parameter optimization is carried out to improve dynamic stability and leakage control performance. The results show that the dynamic performance of the FSD-CFFGS is significantly improved compared with the RSFGS. The dynamic performance of FSD-CFFGS can be effectively improved by reasonably configuring the structural or mechanical parameters such as the supporting foil compliance coefficient, spring stiffness, auxiliary seal ring damping, and the flexibly mounted stator’s mass.
