摘要
The province of Yalova, located in the northwest of Turkey, has a unique architecture of traditional rural housing, but struggles to survive and be maintained due to industrialization. From this point of view, the study investigates the spatial configuration and discuss its relationship with culture by emphasizing the sustainability of the traditional rural dwellings of Yalova. For this purpose, space syntax analysis techniques are used as a method to examine the spatial topology of the architectural plan of eight samples selected from four different villages. Accordingly, in the two-storey houses examined, the halls and the interior stairs are the most integrated areas, while outdoors spaces have an important place in the social life of the residents. Due to privacy, the most secluded spaces are mostly toilets and bathrooms. The houses, with their homogeneous organization, have a weak genotype and have similar planning features.
