Reactions of 2-methylthio-4,6-dichloro-5-(4-alkoxybenzyl)pyrimidines with aliphatic and aromatic primary and secondary amines and sodium methoxide were used to synthesize the corresponding 4-amino-and 4-methoxy-6-chloropyrimidines. The antitumor properties of the synthesized compounds have been studied. © 2008 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.
