Fatty acid derivatives are considered promising eco-friendly plasticizers for poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) resin, an alternative to petroleum-based plasticizers. In particular, biologically active fatty amides seem especially attractive additives for PVC, which may combine the properties of plasticizer and antimicrobial agent.
