We have developed a procedure for analysis of the functional status of blood vessels in tumor tissues using computer-assisted color scanning of tumor slices and also for a quantitative assessment of the effectiveness of photoinduced destruction of tumor tissues in animal experiments. Its major advantage is direct determination of the size of the tumor necrosis zone. The procedure has been tested in an experiment on three strains of malignant tumors with different morphologies. © 2006 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.
