In this study, 90 patients with severe rosacea were rolled randomly into a control group, an observation A group, and an observation B group, with 30 cases in each group. The curative effects of 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) nano-gold photodynamic therapy and 1550 nm erbium glass fractional laser therapy were compared in the treatment of severe rosacea, so as to provide a theoretical basis for clinical treatment. Gold nanoparticles were prepared by the reduction of gold elemental substance by chloroauric acid (HAuCl4·3H2O) and modification, and 5-AlA gold nanoparticles were prepared by the combination of gold nanoparticles and 5-AlA under the action of electrostatic gravity. Patients from the three groups were treated with nano-gold combined with routine drugs, 5-ALA nano-gold photodynamic therapy, and 1550 nm erbium glass fractional laser, respectively. The results showed that the curative effect scores of pustules and papules in the observation A group were lower sharply than the scores of the control group and the observation B group at the 2nd week, the 3rd week, and the 4th week after treatment, and those of the observation B group reduced steeply compared with the control group (P < 0.05). The curative effect scores of erythema and telangiectasia in patients from the observation A group were lower obviously than those of the control group and the observation B group (P < 0.05). The incidence of complications such as redness, pain, blisters, and pigmentation in the observation A group decreased hugely in contrast to the incidence of the control group and the observation B group (P < 0.05). Besides, the time of inflammation subsidence and telangiectasia relief in patients from the observation A group were also lower greatly than those of the control group and the observation B group (P < 0.05). In conclusion, both of 5-ALA nano-gold photodynamic therapy and 1550 nm erbium glass fractional laser therapy had obvious curative effects on severe rosacea, which could effectively clear inflammatory reactions and relieve telangiectasia. However, the curative effect of 5-ALA nano-gold photodynamic therapy was superior to fractional laser therapy.
