Abstract: Decellularized extracellular matrices show а great promise as materials for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Recently, there has been an increasing interest in the use of cell-derived extracellular matrices (CD-ECMs). The present mini-review focuses on advantages and disadvantages of the CD-ECMs, describes the variety of approaches to modify the CD-ECMs and discusses the CD-ECMs application fields. In particular, CD-ECMs were shown to serve as cell culture substrate, as base for biocompatible scaffold production, as drug for cell-free therapy and as component of disease models. © 2023, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
