摘要
Germanium as you have never seen it before. This newly synthesized modification of germanium is a low density empty (guest-free) framework structure, or clathrate. It was produced using a novel preparation route for intermetallic compounds that exploits an ionic liquid as a reaction medium. Interest in such frameworks lies in particular in their potential as materials for optoelectronic devices.
