A rational approach to selection of methods for local treatment of wastewaters in the stages of the manufacturing process is examined. Without laborious and numerous analytical evaluations of the ingredients in spinning wastewaters, the use of a biochemical index is proposed for determining the treatment scheme and sequence of process operations in local wastewater streams.
