Preparation and characterization of BaTiO3–Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3/BiY2Fe5O12 laminate composites

BaTiO3–Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3/BiY2Fe5O12 laminate composites with high resistivities prepared by the conventional solid-state sintering method and co-sintered at 1100 °C were investigated for their electrical, magnetic and magnetoelectric properties. BaTiO3–Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 and BiY2Fe5O12 phases were found to coexist in the composites which exhibit excellent electrical, magnetic and magnetoelectric properties. The magnetoelectric behavior is strongly dependent on the concentration of BiY2Fe5O12 and the dc magnetic field. The maximum magnetoelectric coefficient of the composite was about 6.6 mV/cm Oe.
