Based on the published data, including the results of large-scale, randomized, placebo-controlled trials, the article presents current strategies for the use of statins in primary and secondary prevention of ischemic stroke. Special attention is paid to the efficacy and advanced applications of statins in acute stroke. Based on the gross data, recommendations for the use of statins in prevention and treatment of ischemic stroke are presented. © 2016, Pleiades Publishing, Inc.
