摘要
Patients with recurrent cancer of the head and neck involving the base of the skull have limited treatment options. Stereotactic radiosurgery is currently being investigated as a viable modality of treatment for these patients. This paper reviews the basic principles and treatment procedures involved in stereotactic radiosurgery, as well as published reports on its use with these patients. Finally, questions to be addressed by future studies for clarification of the role of this technology are outlined. Copyright © 2003 by Current Science Inc.
