Results are presented for a study of resistance to different forms of corrosion and corrosion-mechanical failure of United Metallurgical Company oil and gas production pipes made of new pipe steels distinguished by a low carbon content (0.6–0.7%). It is shown that these steels satisfy the specifications of the corresponding TU with respect to corrosion resistance indices, they are not inclined towards sulfide stress corrosion cracking (SSCC), hydrogen cracking of the “delamination” type (HIC), and hydrogenation. The steels may be recommended for pipes for gas field purposes and gas pipelines transporting corrosive hydrogen sulfide-containing media.
