Recent developments of (petro)chemical processes and of the catalysts needed for them are reviewed. In this paper (part I of a two-part series), oxidation, oxidative dehydrogenation, ammoxidation, hydrogenation, hydroformylation and carbonylation are described. Part II will treat acid and base catalysis, enzyme and microbial catalysis, and stereospecific polymerization references. © Baltzer Science Publishers BV.
