摘要
Although cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) is the first choice for treatment of chronic insomnia according to guidelines, the majority of patients do not receive this therapy. The following article describes the elements of CBT-I, such as bed restriction and psychoeducation. Since not every patient can receive psychotherapy immediately, this article suggests a possible step-by-step procedure, in order to make CBT-I available to all patients in a timely manner. Thus, general practitioners have an approach alternative to drug-based treatment for insomnia patients.
