In this paper, we address the problem of angle estimation in bistatic multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar with unknown mutual coupling and devise an effective algorithm for joint direction-of-arrival (DOA) and direction-of-departure (DOD) estimation. By using the special structure of mutual coupling matrix of uniform linear array, we firstly derive a covariance matrix without mutual coupling effects from the covariance matrix of the matched filter outputs. Based on the covariance matrix, we further formulate an atomic norm minimization problem to reconstruct a noise-free covariance matrix. Finally, we estimate the DOAs and DODs of the targets by applying MUSIC algorithm on the reconstructed low-rank matrix. Numerical results demonstrate the advantage of the proposed algorithm over the existing approaches.
