摘要
The aim of this study was to investigate the possible alterations in some cytokines and oxidative stress biomarkers in cows with acute Brucella abortus (B. abortus) infection. The study has been carried out on twenty-two cows’ sera. All serum samples were examined for brucellosis by indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay (i-ELISA). Cows that were seronegative for B. abortus infection were used as a control group; meanwhile, cows that were diagnosed positive for B. abortus infection were used as an infected group. Cytokine profile and oxidative state markers showed significant increases in interleukin-1β (IL-1β), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), malondialdehyde (MDA), and nitric oxide (NO) levels in B. abortus-infected cows in comparison with the control group. On the other hand, significant decreases in interleukin-10 (IL-10) and total antioxidant capacity (TAC) levels were reported in B. abortus-infected cows when compared with controls. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd. part of Springer Nature.
