摘要
Fly ash particles were reinforced into AA6061 aluminum in semisolid state to produce aluminum matrix composites (AMCs). The prepared AMCs were subjected to turning operation using a tool made of polycrystalline diamond. Fly ash particles were spread across the aluminum matrix in homogenous manner. The incorporation of fly ash particle had a remarkable effect on the turning operation. Fly ash particles brought down the demand on the cutting force but deteriorated the surface finish. The content of fly ash particles determined the formation of built up edge, size of chips formed and the features on the machined surface.
