摘要
The links between alcohol and crime have been extensively explored. While the research evidence points to a link between alcohol and various types of crime, there are no official statistics collected systematically, making it impossible to gain a true picture of the role of alcohol in crime at a national level. However, further evidence is emerging of the presence of alcohol in offending, although this does not prove that alcohol is causal in crime being committed. Local crime audit data collected as a result of the 1998 Crime and Disorder Act, therefore, could be a potentially rich source of information. This paper describes the extent to which alcohol-related crime was raised as an issue in local crime audit documents, how it is dealt with in resulting crime and disorder strategies, and gives some practical recommendations for future work.
