This article focuses on school violence in the United States, kindergarten (k) through 12th grade, and it addresses the following topics: (a) a brief background of school violence in the USA, (b) etiology and consequences of school violence, (c) prevention programs and efforts, (d) preventive counseling and consultation, (e) counseling the violence prone and violence victim, (f) international and cross-cultural implications, and (g) discussion. © 2000 Kluwer Academic Publishers.
