Seit geraumer Zeit gibt es zahlreiche „Brustzentren“ in Deutschland, die nur ein loser Zusammenschluss weiterhin selbstständig arbeitender Fachabteilungen sind. Daher wurde es notwendig, externe Qualitätsstandards für Brustzentren zu definieren und auch zu überprüfen.
