A fungus that formed white colonies with greenish black spore masses was isolated from diseased mulberry leaves in Gunma Prefecture, Japan, in 1995, 1999, and 2000. It was pathogenic to mulberry. The fungus was identified with Myrothecium verrucaria. It has been added to the list of pathogens that cause Myrothecium leaf spot of mulberry and is identified for the first time as a plant pathogen in Japan. © The Phytopathological Society of Japan and Springer-Verlag Tokyo 2005.
