Design and optimization of passive optical gyroscope, based on nanostructures ring resonators for rotation sensing applications

摘要
We propose a passive optical gyroscope based the Sagnac effect that consists of a sequence of coupled high-quality factor resonators and bus waveguides. In this proposed gyro, using Sagnac effect, the optimum phase shift between two counter propagating beams is measured to sense parameter of structure. Using the high coupling property between the waveguides and the rings, the light is conducted at the operating wavelengths of the proposed gyroscope. Using numerical simulation, the key parameters of this proposed structure, including the output power of the drop ports, the quality factor of the rings, the output phase shift, the angular rotation rate, the transmission and the forbidden bands, according to the number of coupled integrated ring resonators, was analyzed.
