Interest in the thermal plasma processing of fine powders has increased in recent years. Its potential for the production of advanced materials is highly recognized. This paper discusses research carried out in the plasma-processing laboratory at the University of Alabama to produce fine powders using transferred and non-transferred arc plasma systems. Fine powders of metal, ceramics, and composites were synthesized using plasma technology.
