摘要
Genotoxicity of hexavalent chromium (0, 0.25, 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 mM) was assessed using comet assay in root tip cells of Vicia faba. Metal stress resulted in decrease in root and shoot length as well as fresh biomass of V. faba seedlings. Total protein content in Cr treated roots was low as compared to control plants. Activities of catalase, peroxidase and ascorbate peroxidase were found to enhance significantly in a dose dependent manner with increasing concentrations of Cr whereas superoxide dismutase showed a decreasing trend. © 2014 Indian Society for Plant Physiology.
