摘要
Plastic changes in the central nervous system occurring under the influence of motor activity are regarded as the key to the successful restoration of motor functions after traumatic spinal cord injury. The identification of such changes and elucidation of their mechanisms are therefore important for the development and optimization of treatment methods aimed at maximizing post-traumatic functional recovery and minimizing possible maladaptive conditions. The aim of the present work was to review data on plastic changes in the central nervous system caused by various types of motor activity after traumatic injury to the spinal cord in humans and animals. © 2023, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
