The theater as a venue and production site is a form of microcosm with a diverse range of workplaces. At the end of a variably long production process in rehearsals there is a single or a series of publicly accessible theatrical performances. Despite the artistic demands in a theater, occupational safety and health protection during all activities are of great significance. This article presents the various professional groups in charge of occupational safety and health protection in stage employees. Because artistic professions primarily also belong to these employee groups, they may be caught in a content-related dilemma, which is discussed in this article. © 2016, Springer Medizin Verlag Berlin.
