High-Performance Thin-Layer Chromatographic Determination of Celecoxib in its Dosage Form

A high performance thin layer chromatographic method has been developed for determination of celecoxib in pharmaceutical preparations. The method uses silica gel 60F254 as stationary phase and n- hexane-ethyl acetate, 60 + 40 (v/v) as mobile phase; detection was performed at X - 262 nm. Loratadine was used as internal standard. The response was found to be linearly dependent on amount of celecoxib between 200 and 2000 ng. The method was validated to determine its accuracy and precision. System suitability tests were conducted to verify the resolution and reproducibility of the system were adequate for the analysis. Determination of celecoxib in a capsule is described.
