Quality of life in the area of health and health care is measured in terms of inputs, throughputs and outcomes in Korea. The national healthinsurance program has contributed to the improvement of health and healthcare. However, there are financial barriers to health care utilizationbecause of limited benefit coverage and high copayment. Quality of life, as measured by health outcomes such as life expectancy, has also improved a great deal in thirty years, although there sill exists differential mortality rates among different socio-economic groups. Strengthening the areas of primary health care, accident and disease prevention and health promotion will be essential to improving health outcomes among the Korean population.
