摘要
The behavior of a single electron is investigated in the single slab Cherenkov free-electron laser, for which the electron motion near the surface of a dielectric is the basis of its operation. Electron motion is studied to make certain that it stays in the interaction zone and does not hit the dielectric. The Lorentz force equation is used to derive a set of coupled differential equations that are solved numerically by the Runge–Kutta method to simulate the electron motion in the desired structure. The effects of an axial magnetic field and the radiation on the electron motion are studied in order to have an efficient interaction between the electron and the radiation.
