Electric Field Effects on the Thermodynamics of Multiferroic Chains

摘要
The thermodynamic properties of the helical spins with a magnetoelectric coupling are studied theoretically using Monte Carlo simulations. It is shown that the spin–spin correlations are affected by thermal fluctuations and by an electric field. Results for the temperature-dependence of the ferroelectric polarization and for the electric susceptibility are presented and analyzed with a focus on the multiferroic phase transition.
