With a specific energy requirement of less than 0.2 kWh/t per 100 m conveying distance, they also provide significant energy savings compared to pneumatic vertical conveyors used for that purpose. In the case of new plants, a trend towards high-capacity bucket elevators has been in progress for some time now. For existing plants with airlift systems, conversion to a bucket elevator can also be a worthwhile investment. The following paper provides important planning data for this purpose.
